Best Indian Cuisine in Pueblo: Mr. Tandoori

When it comes to enjoying a wide variety of international cuisine, most people don't think that Pueblo, Colorado is the place to visit. In fact, Pueblo is a haven for fast food and burger joints (no offense to Pueblo intended). However, when it comes to Indian cuisine and vegan dining, there is one spot that gets all the attention - Mr. Tandoori.

If you're not too familiar with Pueblo, Mr. Tandoori is located on South Victoria Avenue, within the 'La Placita' commercial building. This spot is a hidden gem that transports your taste buds on a journey through the vibrant and diverse culinary landscape of India. Nestled in the heart of the city, this restaurant offers an exquisite fusion of traditional Indian recipes with a modern vegan twist, resulting in a unique and delightful dining experience.

As I stepped into Mr. Tandoori for the first time, I was immediately greeted by the warm and inviting ambiance. The walls adorned with colorful Indian artwork and the soft sitar music playing in the background set the perfect mood for a memorable meal. The staff was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, helping me navigate the extensive vegan menu. I'm unable to consume certain proteins due to a specific medication and a menu that bends to my concerns was a big help. It's so appreciated.

Mr. Tandoori's menu boasts an impressive selection of dishes from various regions of India, and I decided to start with the Veggie Samosas (2 pieces of spicy seasoned potatoes and peas wrapped in a light pastry, a mouthwatering fusion of crispy samosas smothered in a tangy tamarind chutney and creamy vegan yogurt). Each bite was a delightful explosion of flavors, and it was the perfect appetizer to kickstart my culinary adventure.

For the main course, I opted for the Bhartha Makhani (Roasted eggplant cooked with green peas, onions, tomatoes garlic, ginger) with a side of Naan. The eggplant itself was a revelation. The sauce was rich, creamy, and packed with the familiar flavors of tomato, cream, and aromatic spices. Paired with the soft and fluffy naan, it was a match made in vegan heaven. The portion size was generous, leaving me satisfied and eager to try more.

The dessert menu was equally enticing, and I couldn't resist ordering the Vegan Mango Lassi Sorbet (Indian mango smoothie with homemade yogurt). It was a refreshing and tangy treat that cleansed my palate after the savory meal. The natural sweetness of the mango shone through, and it was the perfect ending to a delightful dining experience.

One of the most impressive aspects of this restaurant's service was their attentiveness. They were incredibly responsive to my needs, always ensuring that our glasses were filled, and our questions were answered promptly. And to me, again, that means something. It felt as though they anticipated what I desired before I even had to ask, creating a seamless and enjoyable dining experience. The knowledge and enthusiasm of the staff were also noteworthy. Whatever I asked, the folks at Mr. Tandoori responded, with a smile no less. They were well-informed about the menu, offering insightful recommendations and explaining the dishes in detail. It was evident that they took pride in their work and genuinely cared about the quality of my meal.

But what really sets this restaurant apart is its commitment to authenticity. I've been to Indian twice and this spot is purposely decorated with care. The décor isn't just an aesthetic choice; it's a homage to India's rich history and culture. It's evident that every piece of furniture, every artwork, and every textile has been carefully selected to create an ambiance that not only complements the cuisine but also celebrates India's artistic legacy. Dining here isn't just a meal; it's a cultural experience that immerses you in the beauty and warmth of India's traditions. Mr. Tandoori 'did it right.' And in Pueblo, Colorado no less. Wow.

Since my first experience here, I have returned five times. To me, Mr. Tandoori is a must-visit for both vegans and food enthusiasts alike. The restaurant's commitment to delivering authentic Indian flavors while staying true to vegan principles is commendable. The friendly atmosphere, attentive staff, and delectable vegan dishes make it a standout dining destination. Whether you're a vegan or simply looking to explore the diverse world of Indian cuisine, this is a place where your taste buds can take a thrilling journey through India's culinary heritage. I truly recommend this spot and I would encourage your feedback. Happy Dining!
